The meeting convened at 1:00 with the following members in attendance: Tim, Mary, Bob, Bill, and Scott.
We were pleased to welcome Mike S. to his first meeting.

Tim presented PowerPoint slides and 3 videos which detailed the various types of sharpening in On1. Sharpening
an image involves a degree of complexity, however, Tim included numerical values for the various slider
controls which represent excellent starting points for the 3 different types of sharpening in On1.

Next, Scott walked through the slider controls in the Tone and Color Panel of the Develop module in On1. Following this he demonstrated use of the Textures filter in the Effects module. Finally Scott showed an image which contained numerous distractions and unwanted elements. Members then identified the distractions and discussed which tools in On1 should be best used to eliminate the unwanted elements.

Bob then walked us through an exercise whereby member Photo Contest entries were critiqued according to guidelines of Feldman’s Critical Analysis Learning Model. Members enjoyed this process and the lively discussion which ensued. The subject of image critique is gaining momentum for future discussion.

Bill emerged as the winner of our Photo Contest, subject: Maple Sugaring, with his entry Tapped Out. What a great photo, Bill!

Ideas for upcoming field trips were the next subject of discussion. Now that warmer weather is just around the corner Scott indicated he will evaluate nearby covered bridges, abandoned buildings, and abandoned cars as possible sites for future field trips.

Bob suggested and members agreed that the subject for our next Photo Contest will be Before and After. This is a chance for everyone to showcase their post processing skills. Members will upload the edited image (any subject) to the Photo Contest page and either 1) bring the original image on a flash drive or 2) upload the original image to the Member Photo Album page.

Agenda items for our May 11th meeting were then discussed with details included in the Next Meeting menu on
NotchAbovePhotoClub.com and our Meetup page.
