A Notch Above Photography Club
Minutes
September 14, 2019

The meeting convened at 1:00 PM and we were pleased to note the following members were present:
Bob, Mike, Bill, Tim, Mary, Jennifer, and Scott.  Also present was Joe M., our newest member; John soon
joined us.

Club activities included the following:

As monthly photo contest entries were shown on the large screen TV each member provided comments
for his/her image and other members asked questions or critiqued the image. This month’s subject was “People Photography”
with Bill H. emerging as the hands down winner with his image “Fountain Fun.”

Tim suggested possible locations for an autumn field trip:  Beaver Pond, Willey House, or St. Gaudens Park.
Scott mentioned that he was working with John F. to coordinate an evening visit to Long Pond in order to capture the
sunset and astral photography possibilities.  Members decided to hold the autumn field trip Saturday, Oct. 5th, at the Willey House and Pond on Rte. 302 in Hart’s Location in Crawford Notch, with supper afterwards. We will meet by the Crawford Notch Train Depot (top of the notch) at 3 PM and later proceed down the notch to the Willey House. The rain date will be Sunday, Oct. 6th at the same time.  (https://blog.nhstateparks.org/tag/willey-house/ )  Bring your camera gear. Tim will send everyone more info.

At our regular meeting in Bethlehem on Oct. 12th, in addition to voting on the upcoming contest winner, we will review and critique the photos our members take at Coffin Pond and at the field trip to Crawford Notch.

Bob provided a Treasurer’s Report indicating a balance of $300.29

Tim provided a very informative presentation about photographing and processing in Black and White.  Especially useful was a prioritized list detailing the various ways to convert RAW color images to B&W in ON1 Raw.  Members were especially attentive as the subject for the next photo contest is black and white.

At approximately 2:30 the meeting was adjourned and we proceeded to Coffin Pond with cameras in hand.  We were fortunate in that it was not raining and members were able to take photos and enjoy the opportunity to socialize.
