A Notch Above Photography Club
Minutes
November 10, 2018

The meeting kicked off at 1:00 P.M. with the following members in attendance: Tim, Mary, Bob, Karina, Bill, Katherine,
Carol, and Scott. We are pleased to welcome new member, Shawn.

The meeting began with each member providing a brief introduction for Joe Garcia. (see below)

Upcoming events:
Regarding a possible holiday dinner in December Karina reported that she was in contact with Colatina’s restaurant in Bradford, VT.
Colatina’s has a private room available for our use at no charge. Members agreed to December 1st or December 8th as target dates.
Note that a holiday meal on December 8th would follow our regularly scheduled meeting in Bethlehem.

Planned for December: Guest speaker Kris Dobbins will talk about “Seeing Creatively”
Voting for the monthly and annual winner of our monthly photo contest.
Discussion of critiquing a photo to include a detailed video

Bob provided a treasurer’s report and indicated we have a balance of $275.11

By unanimous vote it was agreed to extend our Meetup subscription at a cost of $59.94 and allow Tim to bill the club.

Joseph Garcia, guest speaker from Purple Finch PhotoDrone (https://www.purplefinchdrone@gmail.com) provided a detailed discussion
of drone photography. Joe’s presentation included Powerpoint slides which detailed the features and capabilities of various drones, from
the introductory to state of the art. In addition, Joe provided several high quality drone photographs which wowed club members.

Karina provided a well received discussion of macro photography which included a video showing some excellent close up images. Especially
interesting were the images of various insects positioned on flowers. Useful techniques for “setting the stage” were also mentioned.

Ballots were counted with Tim emerging as the winner of our monthly photo contest with his pic “Canadian Rockies.”

A new page has been added to this web site, “Request a Critique.” This page can be found under the “Member Gallery” pull down menu. On this
page members can upload a pic for which they request advice regarding composition, camera settings, post processing, and so on. At this point
an email can be automatically directed to selected individuals notifying them of the requested critique.

It was decided that the subject for the next cycle photo contest would be “Holiday Related.”

After the meeting adjourned at 3:30 Joe Garcia treated remaining members to a hands on demo of the drones he had on hand.
