A Notch Above Photography Club

The meeting began at 1:10 with Tim, Mary, Bob, Robert, and Scott in attendance.
Topics for today’s meeting were reviewed and the first order of business was to
complete voting for the monthly Photo Contest. Mary emerged as the winner with
her pic titled “Patriotic Pups.” Nice job, Mary!

We then discussed possibilities for our next field trip and tentatively set Sabbaday Falls
(https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/sabbaday-falls)
in September for that event. Tim floated the idea of a follow on pot luck picnic which
was met with enthusiasm by all.
Bob suggested BridalVeil Falls Trail (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/bridal-veil-falls-trail)
for a future field trip.

Bob delivered a financial report which revealed a balance of $236.07 in ANAPC coffers.

Scott showed members the new Membery Gallery Page and answered questions.

Robert suggested members investigate the functionality and potential value of 3 software programs –

Aurora (https://aurorahdr.com/)
*Pixel Genius (http://www.pixelgenius.com/)

Scott then demonstrated various Photoshop selection tools which included the Rectangle and
Elliptical Marquee, the three Lasso tools, Quick Selection, and Select Subject. Following this,
Scott applied two Photoshop filters to an image of a sunflower utilizing layer masks to isolate
selected pixels. To wrap up this exercise Scott showed a 15 minute video by Anthony Morganti
which reinforced the use of layers and layer masks.

Bob asked members to suggest how to best edit an image of an antique car. We projected this image
on screen and members had fun experimenting with Content Aware Fill, the Spot Healing and Patch Tool.
We then agreed that future activities could possibly include a similar exercise in which members suggest
the means to accomplish difficult post processing edits with various tools found in Photoshop, Lightroom,
and/or On1 Raw. Great suggestion, Bob!

The meeting adjourned at 3:30.
